We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A figural silver perfume bottle is a portable scent container cast or raised in silver, shaped to represent a human figure, animal, or object. Popular in the 18th and 19th centuries, these containers functioned both as utilitarian vanity accessories and as decorative novelties.

These items were predominantly crafted from sterling or Continental grade silver, using casting, chasing, and repousse techniques. The interior was often lined or fitted with a glass stopper or screw top to prevent scent leakage and corrosion of the metal.

Authentic pieces typically feature hallmark stamps indicating silver purity, city marks, date letters, or makers marks. Look for age-consistent wear, particularly around the stopper threads and base, as well as period-appropriate construction methods such as hand-chased details.

Display the bottle alongside small glass decorative items on a vanity tray, a marble bedside table, or within a glass-fronted curio cabinet. Grouping small silver objects creates an organized textural focus on modern dressing tables or shelving.

Clean silver scent bottles using a soft, lint-free polishing cloth specially treated for silver care. Avoid immersing the bottle in liquid silver dips or harsh chemicals, as this can strip historic patination and damage any internal glass or stoppers.
