We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian silver bookmarks gained popularity during the early 20th century as literacy rates rose and reading became a widespread leisure activity among the middle and upper classes, often produced as novelties by notable makers.

These items were typically manufactured from sterling silver using techniques such as stamping, casting, and hand-engraving, frequently incorporating figural terminals or sliding mechanisms.

Authenticity is determined by examining hallmarks stamped onto the metal, which indicate the assay office, date letter, makers mark (such as Sampson Morden), and the sterling silver standard.

Such pieces can be displayed on a bookshelf, desk, or coffee table inside a glass cabinet or resting on top of a vintage leather-bound book to add a touch of historical detail.

Preservation requires storing items in tarnish-resistant cloths and cleaning them sparingly with a soft microfibre cloth and specialised silver polish, avoiding abrasive substances that wear down hallmarks.
