FAQs

Georgian silver salvers gained prominence in the 18th century as status symbols used by the aristocracy for serving beverages like tea, coffee, and wine.

These items were typically handcrafted from sterling silver using techniques such as hammering, casting, and intricate hand-chasing or engraving.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks indicating the assay office, makers mark, date letter, and purity standard, alongside period-appropriate wear and construction methods.

An antique silver salver can be used as a reflective centrepiece on a coffee table, holding pillar candles, small glassware, or curated decorative objects.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth, and stored in a low-humidity environment to prevent excessive tarnish.
