Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian silver objects, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, frequently display lighter, more refined neo-Classical motifs, drawing inspiration from Louis XVI, Sheraton, and Chippendale styles rather than the heavier ornamentation of the preceding Victorian era.

These items were typically manufactured from sterling silver, often featuring hand-engraved patterns, engine-turned detailing, and applied cast silver borders, usually lined internally with velvet, silk, or satin.

Authenticity is verified by examining the hallmarks stamped on the metal, which indicate the assay office, the standard mark (such as the lion passant for sterling silver), the date letter corresponding to the specific year, and the makers mark.

An antique silver box functions effectively as a decorative accent when placed on a dressing table, bedside table, or coffee table, adding reflective metallic texture and a sense of historical contrast to modern minimalist or transitional schemes.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a non-abrasive silver cloth and specialist polish to avoid wearing down hallmarks and delicate engravings, while avoiding harsh chemical dips that strip the desirable natural oxidisation in recessed areas.
