Circular Mahogany and Brass Revolving Bookcase

1900 - 1920
Description

Circa 1900. A very unusual circular mahogany two tier revolving bookcase. The solid top with moulded edge, the various sections beneath separated on the inside by the pierced mahogany fretwork with a Lyre, the outside with the same pattern, but in cast copper, each tier has four sections, beneath the bottom tier there is further mouldings, the piece rests on a circular solid base with a shaped and beaded frieze, resting on four cabriole legs. There is a makers label on one upright. ‘Francis Smith Cabinet Maker, 78 Golden Street, Glasgow.’
