Circa 1860. An exhibition quality mid Victorian burr walnut and ormolu mounted credenza. The shaped top in the finest figured book-matched burr walnut with a string inlay and a double moulded fore-edge, the shaped frieze with inlay and a cast and gilded moulding that follows the form of the credenza. To the front one large panel inlaid door with ormolu mounts and marquetry, mirror matched burr walnut, with a large oval and gilded panel in the center with a porcelain plaque, depicting winged cherubs, the sides with a pair of tapering and inlaid pilasters, two curved and glazes end doors with gilded mounts, beneath the doors further mouldings and the piece rests on an enclosed plinth with a shaped frieze on the front, following the form of the credenza.
