Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
1880. Francis & James Smith were Cabinet Makers and Upholsterers in Glasgow, at the comer of Gordon and Union Street. They did every aspect of cabinet-making from upholstery, gilding, carving and even house furnishings. It is a very unusual tall size and can rotate 360 degrees for access to all sides. This stunning antique bookcase has a moulded top with slatted moulded upright supports and beautifully figured Oak shelves. The Oak has aged to a warm shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
