A Mid 18th Century English Mahogany Bookcase or Cabinet c.1760This cabinet, produced around the transition between the reigns of King George II and III, consists of a segmented interior behind two glazed doors in the upper section and a similarly divided lower section behind panelled cupboard doors. Each section with a variety of adjustable shelves, the sides of the cabinet with grooves to allow the shelves to be set at any one of a vast number of heights. The cabinet is of plain form but the finely moulded cornice and nicely constructed plinth base, as well as the refined shelving arrangements and nicely moulded shelves, are signs of the quality of the cabinet work.
