Superb Victorian Pokerwork Spinning Or Sewing Stool

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Vicky Thomas Antiques

Here is a beautiful and extremely handsome Victorian Pokerwork (or Pyrography to give it its posh name!) spinning or sewing stool, made from Fruitwood.

The seat has a heraldic and Celtic influenced trio of intertwined lions, wrought into the pale wood by the use of heated tools or ''pokers''. The back of the chair continues in the same style with two mythological creatures - winged, ferocious and with fishes tails leading up to a blindfolded lion above the lifting handle.

The chair stands 85cm tall, 30cm wide and 39cm deep and is in excellent condition. There are the usual surface marks to be expected of a piece of this age, but as i hope the photographs show it looks fantastic and would work brilliantly in any style of home whether traditional or modern.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if I can offer any more information or photographs.

I offer free postage in the UK, and am very happy to help with quotes for shipping abroad.
