Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Hanau silver refers to silver items manufactured in the German town of Hanau, largely during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, often created in the style of older master silversmiths.

These pieces are crafted from solid sterling silver, frequently utilizing techniques such as hand-chasing, repousse, and casting to achieve highly decorative and textured surfaces.

Authentic items typically feature pseudo-hallmarks or makers marks that imitate earlier Dutch, German, or English silver stamps, alongside standard purity marks like the crescent and crown.

Position it as a focal point on a credenza, coffee table, or open shelving unit to introduce metallic texture and historical contrast to contemporary decor.

Clean periodically with a soft microfibre cloth and specialized silver polish, avoiding harsh abrasives, and store in a low-humidity environment to prevent tarnishing.
