Gordon Russell Walnut Bookcase

1900 - 1920
Description

A rare early Gordon Russell walnut bookcase, designed by Gordon Russell, circa 1927, Design no. 561, with printed and ink inscribed paper label.

Dimensions: 116cm high, 156cm wide, 24cm deep, the shelves 16cm and 19cm deep.

Provenance: Designed specifically as part of a scheme for the Roberts family at Dorsington Manor, Dorsington, Warwickshire. The Roberts family were involved with The Bromsgrove Guild. This bookcase featured in ‘The Story of an English Hostelry’ by S. B. Russell, a booklet which ran to several editions, and was aimed at mainly promoting The Lygon Arms in Broadway. The bookcase purchased in 2017 to furnish Kingcombe, Chipping Campden, the former home of Gordon Russell.
