How do I care for burr walnut surfaces?

Keep wooden furniture away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent the natural veneer from drying or fading over time. Regular dusting with a soft, dry cloth maintains the polished finish without chemical buildup. Apply specialised beeswax furniture polish sparingly when the wood appears dry. Avoid placing damp glasses or hot items directly onto the polished surfaces.

What rooms suit these wardrobes?

Large wardrobes and tallboys fit spacious bedrooms with high ceilings where their bold architectural proportions can breathe. Fitted interior compartments provide practical organisation for modern clothing. Smaller double or single wardrobes adapt well to guest rooms or dressing areas. Their striking grain patterns serve as a focal point against neutral walls.

How were cocktail cabinets used?

Cocktail cabinets served as social centres during interwar home entertaining, housing spirits, glassware, and mixing accessories. Drop-down doors provided a convenient shelf for preparing drinks. Mirrored compartments and internal lighting displayed crystal decanters when guests gathered. They represent the glamorous lifestyle associated with the interwar period.

Are these pieces suitable for modern offices?

Desks featuring leather writing inserts and pedestal drawers provide functional workspaces with historic character. Their generous proportions accommodate modern seating and paperwork comfortably. Matching occasional tables or small cabinets can integrate into office layouts for supplementary storage. The striking walnut grain adds warmth to contemporary interiors.
