Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Art Deco sideboard originates from 1930 and follows the distinctive architectural aesthetic of the period. The body uses warm brown burr walnut and walnut wood with prominent book-matched veneer grain patterns visible across the surfaces. Stepped angled side wings frame the breakfront form, leading down to two large central drawers flanked by cupboards with integrated wooden handles and working key locks. A polished finish protects the wood, while brass-coloured keyhole escutcheons and tapered drawer pulls provide hardware accents. The structure measures 102.5 cm high at the centre, 171 cm wide, and 59.8 cm deep. Placed in a dining room, living space, or hallway today, this sideboard provides surface display space alongside enclosed storage for tableware, linens, or media equipment.

FAQs

Art Deco sideboards, prominent in the 1920s and 1930s, are defined by bold geometric shapes, stepped silhouettes, symmetry, and the lavish use of figured wood veneers such as burr walnut and mahogany.

Furniture from this period frequently incorporated high-grade timber frames layered with expressive veneers, brass or chrome hardware, and hand-carved geometric handles or integrated timber pulls.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut or early machine-cut dovetail drawer joints, original locks, solid timber backboards, and authentic age-related wear to the veneer finish rather than uniform synthetic polishes.

An Art Deco sideboard works effectively as a focal point in a contemporary dining room, hallway, or living space, balancing modern minimalist decor with rich architectural woodwork.

Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent veneer movement or fading, and clean regularly with a soft microfibre cloth while applying high-quality beeswax polish twice yearly.
