Art Deco figural sculpture emerged during the 1920s and 1930s, heavily influenced by modernism, the avant-garde, and a fascination with movement, speed, and the human form.

Makers frequently utilised spelter (a zinc alloy often given a bronze or gilt finish) mounted onto heavy bases crafted from marble, onyx, or alabaster.

Authentic period pieces typically exhibit a distinct patination, older casting seams, and base materials consistent with 20th-century manufacturing methods rather than modern resin reproductions.

Such pieces serve as sculptural focal points on mantelpieces, sideboards, or open shelving, contrasting cleanly against minimalist modern backdrops.

Maintain pieces in stable environments away from direct sunlight and moisture, cleaning only with a dry, soft microfibre cloth while strictly avoiding chemical polishes.
