Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

This fine antique Kirman Lavar area rug originates from North Persia and dates to 1870, presenting a Persian style hand-knotted from wool and cotton. The botanical design is set on a cream field enclosed by a red floral border, incorporating a central tree of life motif accompanied by bird motifs, botanical foliage, and details in light blue, cerise, and pinkish-orange. It shows an even wear across the surface with no holes or repairs, displaying soft colour palettes appropriate for an English Country House aesthetic. Measuring 125 cm by 206 cm, this rug sits directly on the floor in a living room, hallway, or bedroom, where an underlay helps to stabilise and prolong its life. The traditional construction suits domestic placement in rooms that require heritage textile decoration without modern synthetic materials.

FAQs

Kirman Lavar rugs, originating from the Ravar region near Kirman in south-eastern Persia, are distinguished by their fine weave density, intricate floral patterns, and soft colour palettes.

These rugs are traditionally hand-knotted using hand-spun wool pile woven onto a durable cotton warp and weft foundation, coloured with natural plant and mineral dyes.

Authentic Kirman rugs feature intricate floral or pictorial detailing, soft wool pile, asymmetrical knotting, and natural dye variations known as abrash across the surface.

A classical Kirman rug serves as a foundational anchor in contemporary living spaces, complementing neutral furniture with soft tones and organic botanical motifs.

Regular gentle vacuuming without a rotating brush, prompt spot cleaning with cold water, and periodic professional cleaning ensure the long-term preservation of natural wool fibres.
