Tafresh rugs resemble Hamadan pieces wit their single wefts and cotton foundation. They are however more finely knotted which provides for more elaborate designs and softer curves. The central medallion dominates and the variation in the blue background provides a sense of depth. The coral like growths that emerge from the edge of each spandrel as well as the inner central medallion are very appealing. A very decorative rug with a hard wearing foundation and a great look.
Excellent condition, an outer guard stripe is missing from one end.
