This large Victorian partners desk dates from the 19th century and is made of oak, leather and brass with a warm brown timber colour and an olive green inset top. The rectangular writing surface has a thumb-moulded edge, blind-tooled borders, and an inset leather writing pad. Below the top, a long central drawer is flanked by smaller short drawers, all fitted with brass swan-neck swing handles on backplates. The twin pedestals stand on plinth bases and feature fielded panels on the cupboard doors and drawer fronts. The desk measures 78.5 cm high, 183 cm wide and 122 cm deep. Designed to stand freely in the centre of a room, this partner's desk suits a traditional study, home office, or library. The dual-sided configuration provides generous storage and a shared workspace for two users. The figured timber grain and smooth leather surface offer a durable writing area for everyday tasks. Finished on all sides, the piece combines functional workspace organisation with period character for daily domestic use.

Originating in the 18th and 19th centuries, a partners desk is a large freestanding writing table designed to accommodate two people working face-to-face, featuring matching drawers and cupboards on both opposing sides.

Victorian pedestal desks were predominantly constructed from solid hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, featuring hand-dovetailed drawers, brass handles, and gold-tooled leather writing surfaces.

Authentic 19th-century pieces usually exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass lever locks, quarter-sawn oak graining, and natural wear or age patina on the plinth bases and leather top.

Position the desk centrally in a dedicated home office or library space to allow access from both sides, pairing it with modern leather seating and minimalist brass task lighting.

Dust the timber regularly with a soft cloth, apply high-grade beeswax polish along the grain, and clean the leather surface with specialised leather conditioner to prevent cracking.
