Spanish majolica is tin-glazed earthenware pottery traditionally produced in Spain, known for its opaque white glaze and colourful hand-painted designs often featuring narrative scenes or floral motifs.

These pieces are crafted from local earthenware clay, coated with an opacified tin-oxide glaze, and hand-painted with metallic oxide pigments before undergoing a high-temperature kiln firing.

Authentication involves examining the paste composition, glaze crazing, natural pigment degradation, and hand-painted brushwork inconsistencies typical of pre-industrial ceramic manufacturing.

Antique ceramic chargers can be mounted on walls as focal artwork or displayed upright on specialist plate stands within living spaces or dining rooms to add historical texture.

Preserve antique earthenware by keeping it out of direct sunlight, avoiding moisture and liquid exposure, and cleaning only with a dry, soft microfiber cloth to protect the delicate glaze.
