Description

Antique silver William Ehrhardt half hunter pocket watch, 1917.

The watch has an English 7-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. It is all protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the three covers for Birmingham 1917, with a maker’s mark for William Ehrhardt. The case is in good condition, just a very slightly flattened area to the side. The front cover has a small lens surrounded by enamel filled Roman numerals.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover.

Inside, there is a glass lens which is in good condition.

The dial is in lovely condition with original pin-set blued steel hands, including the special half hunter hour hand so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

Dealers Notes

ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (because of GPSR legislation, we no longer post items less than 100 years old to Europe, including Northern Ireland).

Please contact us regarding international shipping.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.

Credit / debit card purchases up to £300 can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the 'Purchase Antique' button on each listing page. Alternatively, there is a Paypal payment link if you scroll down the page and we also accept bank transfers.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.

A hunter pocket watch features a spring-hinged metal cover or lid that protects the glass dial face from scratches and damage.

Victorian pocket watches commonly used sterling silver, gold, and base metals for cases, combined with enamel dials and brass mechanical movements.

Authenticity is verified by examining hallmarks inside the case, serial numbers on the movement, and the quality of the hand-assembled mechanical components.

An antique pocket watch can be displayed on a dedicated pocket watch stand or framed within a shadow box on a desk or bookshelf.

Proper preservation involves keeping the movement away from moisture, avoiding magnetic fields, and having the mechanism serviced regularly by a professional horologist.
