The Queen Anne style, emerging in the late 17th and early 18th centuries, is characterised by an emphasis on comfort, domestic scale, and graceful curves, often featuring cabriole legs and pad feet.

These pieces were typically crafted from native hardwoods such as oak, walnut, or elm, often complemented by hand-beaten brasses and keyhole escutcheons.

Authenticity is assessed by examining hand-cut dovetail joints, timber shrinkage, period-correct hardware fixings, and the natural patina developed over centuries of oxidisation.

This piece works effectively as a focal point in a contemporary hallway or bedroom, contrasting clean modern lines with rich historical texture and warm timber tones.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, applying a traditional beeswax polish sparingly, and avoiding synthetic chemical cleaners.
