Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Baluch flatweave rugs are traditional textiles crafted by nomadic and semi-nomadic Baluchi tribes inhabiting the border regions of Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Unlike pile carpets, these pieces are woven without knots, resulting in a flat, lightweight textile characterised by geometric motifs and rich, natural dye palettes.

These textiles are traditionally constructed using hand-spun sheep wool for both the warp and weft foundations, occasionally incorporating goat hair or cotton for durability. Natural dyes derived from plants, roots, and minerals are utilised to achieve deep tones, while flatweave techniques such as tapestry weaving create the patterned surface.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit irregularities in weave and design due to their nomadic hand-crafted origins, alongside the use of homespun wool displaying abrash, which is a subtle variation in colour shading. Examination of the fringe, selvedge, and natural wool wear patterns further assists in determining age and authenticity.

Antique flatweave rugs integrate well into contemporary spaces by adding texture, warmth, and global character to minimalist or neutral rooms. They function effectively over hardwood flooring or layered on top of larger sisal carpets to define zones within living areas, hallways, or studies.

Preservation requires regular gentle vacuuming without a rotating brush roll to prevent fibre damage, alongside professional organic cleaning when necessary. Keeping the textile away from prolonged direct sunlight prevents fading of the natural dyes.
