FAQs

Feraghan carpets originate from the Arak region of West Persia, produced predominantly throughout the nineteenth century. They were highly sought after in Western markets due to their precise weaving technique and detailed floral design programs.

These carpets are hand-knotted using hand-spun wool pile woven onto a durable cotton warp and weft foundation. Natural vegetable dyes were historically utilised to produce the rich red, navy, and cream tones.

Authentic pieces feature a fine asymmetrical Persian knot, a low clipped pile, and typical design motifs such as the Herati field pattern or central diamond medallions. Soft color variations, known as abrash, and natural wear patterns further indicate authenticity.

A large patterned rug serves as a foundational element in a living space or dining room, anchoring clean-lined modern furniture or complementing period woodwork. The contrast between detailed hand-knotted textiles and contemporary minimalism creates visual interest.

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting without a rotating beater bar to prevent pile damage. Professional cleaning should be undertaken by a specialist oriental rug restorer, and the rug should be rotated periodically to ensure even wear.
