This 1860 cabinet secretaire by Adriano Brambilla stands in the Moorish Revival style, constructed from warm brown walnut with bone, ebony, and fruitwood elements. The upper cabinet contains shelves behind two doors fitted with original locks and keys, alongside renaissance panels in silver, copper, and enamel, complemented by an allegorical panel on the slant front secretaire, a frieze drawer, and barley-twist legs resting on round bun feet with geometric certonsina inlay and detailed mouldings throughout. Practical dimensions measure 178 cm high, 106 cm wide, and 51 cm deep. Placed in a gentleman's library or study, it functions as a writing desk and display or storage cabinet.

Moorish Revival furniture is defined by complex geometric marquetry, intricate bone or ivory certosina inlay, horseshoe arches, and rich wood tones influenced by Islamic architectural traditions of North Africa and Spain.

These pieces typically combine dark hardwoods such as walnut or ebony with delicate bone, mother-of-pearl, ivory, or contrasting light wood inlays to create high-contrast geometric motifs.

Authentic period pieces show hand-cut joinery, precise bone or ivory certosina work, natural age-related patination, and often regional craftsman markings or cabinetmaker labels.

Position the cabinet as a focal point against a neutral backdrop, pairing it with understated modern lighting and simple architectural lines to highlight its complex geometric detail.

Maintain stable humidity levels to prevent inlay lift, dusted regularly with a soft dry cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or excessive moisture that can weaken historic adhesives.
