First Period Worcester refers to porcelain produced at the Worcester factory in England from its establishment in 1751 until roughly 1783, known for its experimental paste bodies and fine artistic hand-painting.

These pieces are crafted from a soft-paste porcelain body, hand-painted with a distinctive underglaze blue scale pattern, and frequently embellished with gilt details and polychrome reserve panels.

Authenticity is typically verified by examining the body under ultraviolet light, checking for underglaze blue square or crescent marks, and assessing the characteristic warmth and imperfections of soft-paste porcelain.

Antique plates can be mounted on walls using specialist brass hangers, displayed on plate stands within cabinets, or styled on mantelpieces to introduce historical texture and craftsmanship into contemporary spaces.

Antique porcelain should be hand-washed gently in warm water using mild soap when necessary, avoiding dishwashers, abrasive sponges, and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to protect the surface glaze and gilding.
