FAQs

The Louis XVI style emerged in France during the late 18th century, marked by a return to classical neoclassical symmetry, straight lines, and refined architectural motifs, moving away from the preceding Rococo curves.

Traditional european armoires were constructed using solid timber frames with panelled doors, hand-carved ornamentation, and frequently incorporated pegged joints, dovetail joinery, and mercury-silvered glass mirror plates.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, historical tool marks, oxidised hardware, and layered paint patination consistent with age rather than modern factory distressing.

A substantial antique wardrobe functions as a focal point in contemporary spaces when balanced with minimalist walls, neutral textiles, and modern lighting to highlight the historical texture and scale.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to protect the painted finish, and dusting regularly with a dry, soft lint-free cloth without using harsh chemical polishes.
