Nineteenth-century Tibetan gilt bronze figures are sacred ritual objects created for monasteries and private shrines, reflecting the rich iconography and spiritual traditions of Vajrayana Buddhism.

These pieces were typically crafted using the lost-wax casting method in copper alloy or bronze, and subsequently finished with a layer of gold leaf or mercury gilding, often accented with cold-painted pigments or semiprecious stones.

Authenticity is assessed through examination of the casting quality, the wear and oxidisation patterns on the gilding, tool marks on the base, and the correct adherence to traditional iconographic proportions.

This piece can be styled as a focal point on a minimalist console table, within a dedicated display cabinet, or on a mantelpiece, allowing its intricate craftsmanship to stand out against neutral backgrounds.

Preserve these objects by keeping them in a stable environment away from direct sunlight and high humidity, dusting gently with a soft, dry brush, and avoiding chemical cleaners or abrasive cloths.
