This antique Afshar saddle bag face from the Persian tribal style originates from circa 1900. Produced by the Afshar tribes of south Persia, the piece uses hand-spun wool with a virtually full pile, hand-knotted onto a cotton warp and wool and cotton wefts dyed light pink, alongside a brocaded top end and secured ends and sides. The palette incorporates navy blue, terracotta red, brown, and cream, with prominent geometric medallions, latch hook borders, and woven loop fastenings along the upper edge. The textile has been hand washed and de-dusted. Measuring 61 cm high, 71 cm wide, and 0.5 cm deep, this square tribal textile is ready for display or use. Suitable placement includes hanging on a wall or integrating into interior styling where antique nomadic textiles are desired.
