This is an unusual item. A solid sterling silver score keeper hallmarked for Birmingham 1894, with the maker''s mark of G E Walton & Co Ltd (George Edwin Walton). It is Art Nouveau in style .
These were usually made in brass or silver plate and were designed to be attached in pairs to a paddle so a fan could keep score of both competitors in a billiards match. Later, they became popular for car racing as lap counters as they are able to be attached to a car dashboard. The two counters have different counting intervals - the top has 10-90 and bottom has 0-9.
