Antique Tekke Turkmen rug of fine weave and small square size.
Circa 1890.
These rugs are considered to be ‘dowry’ weavings used by the Turkmen bride on her wedding day.

This example has 3 rows of 7 Tekke guls, the borders are finely drawn. Note the use of cochineal dye throughout the rug as a highlight. The rug retains part of the decorated kilim end finish at the top end.

The rug has very fine soft wool with excellent colour. The rug is of a very small almost square size.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
