In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The lid is hinged and it has a gilt interior. It comes with its original ground glass stopper with silver top and ring.

It is clearly hallmarked for London, 1896 and the makers Sampson & Mordan.
It is in good condition for its age. The silver is in good condition with clear hallmarks and just a small dent in the top near the hinge (see photo). There are no cracks or major damages to the glass, just some minor surface nibbles. It has been cleaned and the silver gently polished and overall it displays very well.
The best description comes from the photographs so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.
