Decanter labels, also known as bottle tickets, emerged in the mid-18th century to identify the contents of decanters before labels were printed directly on glass bottles.

They are predominantly crafted from sterling silver using techniques such as stamping, casting, piercing, and hand-engraving to display the beverage title.

Authentic pieces bear official British hallmarks stamped on the reverse or edge, detailing the makers mark, assay office town, standard mark, and date letter.

They can be displayed mounted in a shadow box, resting on a silver tray within a bar cart, or used functionally on vintage decanters.

Clean gently with a specialized silver cloth to remove tarnish, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can damage the antique patination and engraved details.
