Victorian Hallmarked Silver Cream Jug (London, 1860, Daniel & Charles Houle)

Description

A hallmarked solid silver Cream Jug with etched Gothic decoration to the main body, a sparrow-beak spout and an ornate scroll handle.

Dimensions: Height 3.5 inches. Diameter: 2.5 inches

Hallmarked: London, 1860 DH & CH... Silversmiths Daniel and Charles Houle entered their own hallmark in 1845 in joint partnership and worked together until 1884, supplying high quality silver items in a large variety of styles through hand-picked retailers. The original company was started by John Houle and his son, also John Houle. First mark was entered in 1811, Clerkenwell, London. He traded together with his son and grandsons until 1844, when seemingly he retired. Daniel and Charles continued in partnership from 1845 until 1884.

Condition: Some wear in places, Hallmarks are clear and visible. Generally in very good condition and importantly does not leak!
