Victorian Silver Claret Jug / Wine Ewer 1882

This superb hallmarked VICTORIAN SILVER CLARET JUG / WINE EWER was made by Elkington & Co and assayed in Birmingham in 1882.

Of neoclassical design and of baluster-form, this stunning Silver Wine Ewer has an engraved and repousse flower, foliate and c-scroll decoration. Attached to the side is a superbly shaped cast handle and the hinged shaped cover lifts to reveal the vibrant gilded interior.

To the front there is a large vacant cartouche above a tapering and spreading circular stem and foot with four foliate decorative engravings.

Free from any added engravings, initials or monograms, this outstanding Claret Jug / Wine Ewer would look fabulous in any setting or would enhance any silver collection.
