A Gorgeous Late 18th Century Silver & Cut Glass Pounce Pot

A rare example of late 18th Century silver desk ware. This is a superb silver and cut glass pounce pot. The body is square in shape, with cut shoulders and multi point stars cut to the sides and base. The pull off lid has a rope twist border and exquisite floral piercing, with engraved detail. The lovely items were used for sprinkling chalk or sand over ink, to prevent smudging after a letter or document had been written. They are always highly sought after and a Georgian example, is a lovely find. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Excellent, with no dents, splits or breaks to the silver and no chips or cracks to the glass.

Hallmarks :- Unmarked (not unusual for early and small silver items), tests as silver.
