A super example of a solid silver vintage buckle belt with a lovely scrolling foliate design to the front. The silver has been gilded all over and retains a slight golden sheen, a very pale gold colour.
The belt buckle symbolises eternity, loyalty, strength and protection. It represents the binding love between the giver and the wearer, and also a love ever-lasting as the loop has no beginning and no end. Queen Victoria reportedly caused a surge in the popularity of buckle rings when she wore one to symbolise her induction into the Order of the Garter.
The bangle has a neat closure mechanism - push the two sides together and lift the buckle to release one end, then push back and secure the buckle against the prong to fix closed.
Fully hallmarked for sterling silver, Birmingham 1966, with the sponsor''s mark BLTD.
The bracelet is in excellent vintage condition with minor surface wear consistent with normal usage, please see photos.
Size: Internal circumference is approximately seven inches; width 1.8cm.
Weight: 53.2g.
