Stunning Pair of French Charles X Period 4 Light Bronze and Ormolu Candelabra Circa 1830

Description

A high quality pair of Charles X period, circa 1830, bronze and ormolu 4 light candelabra with the 4 light section being removable providing an alternative option of using them as large scale single candle sticks standing at 43cms. Extremely well finished and of a striking design in the Gothic manner with tapering stems featuring architectural detailing supported by acanthus leaf decoration over lion paw and ball feet raised on tri-form concave bases. In excellent condition with the original finishes, with wear consistent with age, having been professionally cleaned and waxed to preserve and further enhance them. Whilst the ormolu overall is crisp and bright the drip pans and bobeche are rubbed in places and not as vibrant and they also have some of the some of the small hanging elements missing. Two of the candle nozzles have a hole drilled to the base, no doubt for wiring purposes, but these holes detract little as they are very difficult to see. All elements are original and of the period with the exception of a length of threaded stunning to the interior of one which has been replaced.

Each candelabra has an unpackaged weight of some 4.4kgs.
