Antique Silver Asparagus Tongs.

Description

Top class pair of Geo.IV silver asparagus tongs; in fiddle. thread and shell pattern with a fine crest at the top. Made by one of the best cutlery makers of the period and in perfect condition with crisp clear hallmarks. These wonderful tongs are fully operational; originally used for asparagus, these pieces are also now often used for serving meat and have become alternatively known as "chop tongs." Great weight, and the best we have seen for some time.
