C19th Regency period “Old Sheffield Plate” samovar or hot-water urn by Matthew Boulton .

Elegant large-scale samovar with well-cast detail, featuring a large pineapple or berry finial to the lid . Raised on claw feet with classical architecturally-inspired details and gadrooned edges . Twin acanthus-leaf wrapped handles to the sides , the tap and spout with a bone-mounted handle .

The front with and inset silver panel with a skilfully engraved noble or aristocratic cypher or coat of-arms bearing the motto “Fortitudine Vincit “ ( Strength Conquers) .

The front edge bearing the punched twin star or sun mark of the esteemed manufacturer Matthew Boulton & Company. The firm based at Soho House , Birmingham were leading producers of this type of high quality ware using a process of fused silver and copper sandwiched sheets first developed and pioneered in Sheffield during the C18th .
