A GEORGE III IRISH SILVER DISH RING, Dublin (lacking date mark), maker''s mark for William Townsend Active c 1770, of circular waisted form, the pierced body with embossed and chased decoration depicting a Ho Ho Bird and Dolphin Motif flanking two central cartouches , one with coat of arms with halved depicting a cross crosslet and the other a Lion rampant, the other cartouche with the words ''steady'' above a speared aninmal head.
 
The dish or potato ring synonymous with Irish silver, this example is in very good condition and has excellent quality engraving, The overall quality is second to none.
 
Dimensions: diameter at base 25.5 cm, diameter at rim 18.3cm, height 8.5 cm
