The Celtic Revival movement gained prominence in the 19th and 20th centuries, drawing inspiration from ancient Celtic art, medieval manuscripts, and traditional Scottish motifs like crosses, interlace patterns, and heraldic symbols.

These pieces are typically crafted from solid silver, often featuring traditional Scottish hardstones such as agate, jasper, and cairngorm, or occasionally coloured glass and paste stones set within intricate metalwork.

Authentic pieces generally feature British hallmarks stamped on the reverse, indicating the assay office (such as Edinburgh or Glasgow), the standard of silver, and often a date letter alongside the makers mark.

Vintage brooches can be fastened to lapels, scarves, hats, or chunky knitwear to add a distinct historical focal point to contemporary outfits.

Silver should be cleaned gently using a soft, non-abrasive microfibre cloth to remove tarnish, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can damage embedded stones or oxidised detailing.
