This is a gorgeous piece of silver!
This striking lidded cup is solid silver, hallmarked on the base. It appears to have been manufactured as a trophy, as the rather attractive Art Deco ''1'' is embedded into the body of the cup. The inscription around the base reads: ''27 shooting associations of the Baden-Palatinate Middle Rhine Shooting Association in Mannhein 5-12 July 1914''.
The style is that of the beautiful 18th Century Grape Cups. Some of those are referred to as Pineapple Cups, but, given the finial on this particular piece, it is definitely a grape! The gilding inside is in fabulous condition and, overall, this is an elegant piece.
