Rare Austrian Sterling Silver Enamel Compact Case Box Antique 1926 Cockatoo

1900 - 1920
Description

A rare Austrian sterling silver and enamel compact case / box. It is hallmarked with the Austrian 935 standard Hoopoe bird mark along with the Birmingham import mark for 1926 with the importers mark being HGLd. It has been superbly designed with the lid being enamelled depicting a cockatoo, the underside of the lid has a mirror and is internal gilded. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits and repairs, small patch of gilding wear and a few spots on the mirror. It measures approx. 2 inches (5cm) across by 0.75 inch (1.6cm) wide weighs 42 grams. A superbly made very high-quality piece.
