Silver Plated Armorial Dish / Plate by G Collis

Description

This fine silver plated armorial plate is marked for maker G Collis at Church Street, Birmingham (1835 - 1868). The plate has a slightly deeper bowl. It bears two crests, the first with Latin inscription 'Inseri Deo et Laetare' with a coat of arms flanked by stags and under an earl's crown. The second crest is smaller, bearing the same inscription around a lion with an arrow in its mouth.

The piece is in good condition with no dents or splits but there is a slight amount of plate wear to the bowl.
