London 1894 Very Good Quality Solid Silver Cigar Case by Minshull and Latimer.

Description

London 1894 English hallmarked solid silver cigar case by makers Minshull and Latimer. It is profusely engraved with a leaf and scroll bright cut design on both sides. It catches the light beautifully, and also has a large blank cartouche to the top, suitable for engraving if you wish.

The back has a graceful curve, designed to be carried comfortably against the body. It has a full length hinge and a push button spring catch and very clear hallmarks.

The gilt interior is original, and includes the original elasticated retention strap.

Size-5.25 inches high by 3 3/8 inches wide by 7/8 inches deep.

Weight-heavy at 165 grams.

This sizeable cigar case is still wonderful to use for its original purpose, or to hold tobacco, or whatever one wishes.

It appears to have received little use during its lifetime, has excellent gauge and weight of silver and is in very good condition.
