Superior Silver Vesta Case Birmingham 1906 By William M Hayes

A very stylish solid silver Vesta Case. Both the front and back are smartly decorated with engine turned decoration featuring columns of stripes and there is an empty circular cartouche in the centre. The lid is hinged to one side and there is a loop at the side for attachment.
Hallmarks are clearly visible on the inside lip of the Vesta case for the Birmingham Assay office with a date mark for 1906 and maker''s marks : William M Hayes. The Lion Passant is also visible indicating the finest sterling silver.
This Vesta case feels good to hold in the hand. It is a lovely squared shape and is further enhanced by the gilt interior.
