The lid is hinged to one side and there is a loop at the side for attachment.

Hallmarks are clearly visible on the inside lip of the Vesta case for the Birmingham Assay office with a date mark for 1906 and maker's marks : William M Hayes. The Lion Passant is also visible indicating the finest sterling silver.

This Vesta case feels good to hold in the hand. It is a lovely squared shape and is further enhanced by the gilt interior.
