Description

Pair of Geo.III Paktong (Chinese metal) candlesticks; superb quality, of Column design . Small repair to the top of one, which we have reflected in the price. Good, handsome pair of candlesticks.

Paktong is a rare Chinese alloy imported in small quantities in the 18th century. Used by English craftsmen, to replicate similar silver items, it was overtaken by Old Sheffield Plate, mainly to the grip on the market by the Plate manufacturers of UK. Very collectable.
