Antique Victorian Silver Egg Cruet

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The Silver Cabinet

This is a lovely example of a silver plated egg cruet, dating from the Victorian era.

The maker''s mark of Robert Fead Mosley is stamped on the base, the style of which gives us a date between 1864 and 1897. The silver plate is in exceptional condition.

The oval base stands of ball feet and has a solid carrying handle and raised, decorated rim. This decoration is mirrored in the two egg cups, which have stands. Two spoons holders are attached to the carrying handle, as also is the toast or English muffin rack. The glass pots have standing rings on the base. The glass is in excellent condition. It is possible that the smaller of the glass pots was originally a twin to the other other one but has been cut down to create a salt pinch pot. If so, the work was skilfully done. It is priced accordingly.
