Sampson Mordan Victorian Silver Card Case

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Woodbridge Antiques

A very fine solid silver Card Case.  The case is a lovely plain polished silver.  Rectangular  and convex in shape, with curved corners,  the case is very tactile and feels nice to hold in the hand.  The hinged lid opens and closes well and underneath the lid the clear hallmarks are visible for the London Assay Office with a date mark for 1880 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver, with partial marks to the inside of the lid. The interior has a lovely gilt finish.  The silver maker''s mark is also clear for the renowned and very collectable silversmiths:  Sampson Mordan.  The card case is also nicely proportioned (not too large) and would fit easily into a pocket.

A lovely card case in great antique condition. There is some very light surface scratching to the plain polished silver which we mention for accuracy only and is commensurate with the age of the item.
