Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Paris porcelain, often known as Vieux Paris, refers to hard-paste porcelain produced by over thirty independent artisan workshops in and around Paris from the late 18th century through the 19th century. Known for intricate hand-painted detail and extensive gilding, these pieces catered to aristocratic and wealthy clients across Europe.

The lamp bodies are crafted from hard-paste porcelain, finished with hand-painted polychrome enamel decoration and burnished gold leaf gilding. The electrical sockets, stem columns, and base mountings are traditionally composed of cast brass or gilt bronze.

Authentic Paris porcelain is frequently unmarked on the underside, as individual Parisian factories often refrained from using factory marks to avoid trade restrictions. Look for fine hand-painted enamel details, heavy burnished leaf gilding, and minor surface irregularities consistent with 19th-century kiln firing techniques.

Position them symmetrically on a long console table or sideboard to anchor the space with visual balance. Pair them with neutral lampshades and modern contemporary art to create a curated contrast between historical craftsmanship and clean modern design.

Dust the porcelain porcelain surfaces gently with a clean, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid damp wiping or chemical cleaners on gilt areas, as rubbing can thin or lift delicate gold leaf detailing over time; ensure internal electrical wiring is routinely checked by a qualified electrician.
